IDOM was born in 1957, as a result of the effort of integrating work of the engineer Rafael Escola (Barcelona 1919 – Bilbao 1995).

Supported by a young engineer, Luis OlaortĂșa (1932-2003), Rafael Escola IDOM made a professional association in which people cooperate with each other, joined by labor and property of the firm, looking for professional and personal development and the best customer service.

Rafael and Luis were also pioneers in providing independent professional services and engineering, in an era in which engineers work mostly as employees of large industrial enterprises.

Market developments and changing needs of customers, made IDOM began a path of continued growth, both in services and in people, which has led to a multidisciplinary group leader and that may work more than 2,500 people in 32 offices located in fourteen countries on three continents.

DOM has one of the teams in the country architecture, in which more than 150 architects working on a common business structure, supported by an engineering team that provides support and stability to the whole.

The close coexistence of these two worlds, architecture and engineering professionals, has given us the opportunity to see how extraordinarily productive that can be dialogue between the realm of ideas and art.
